Greetings folks. Welcome to another Monday!

So, NEWS!

I finished Lessons in Ink! WOOT!

Another one off the number of WIP's.

As I try to get better at writing, I've noticed something new about myself each time. This week, how I struggle with an ending!

ARGHHH! The Muses know it but they don't convey it to you. you're sitting there, dumbfounded, wondering how to end the particular story. I don't mean necessarily the ending scene, but the actual ending. Last line

Usually in all my writing, I have tried to tie in the title or at least the plot of the story. Sometimes I have succeeded, other times, erm no. I have always felt like I wanted to leave a lasting impression on my reader where they would say, what an ending. I'm satisfied, and want to read more by this writer.

In a lot of ways, I myself am not satisfied by my choice of words. So typically, I go back to the story to read over it for errors and check for coherence, not only that, I read the ending again and again, seeing if I myself enjoy it. If not, I change it.

Once I get one that I sort of like, then I'll leave it, hoping that if it gets picked up, I'll come up with a better one of the editor will. LOL

But why is that ending so damn hard? The last few words...I mean, only a sentence right?

Well, yeah, but it's the one that will make the reader draw a conclusion to say, oh that was great or that book sucked.

THAT, my friends, IS MY FEAR!

*****

So, yeah, I Finished Lessons!

That leaves, AS, the ongoing Mi Familia, A Second Chance, and Trois as my WIP's.

This week, I will be doing round two of edits on Binding Justice. Plus, I'll be starting, Taming Wild Horses, my gay foursome story for my main editor. He is giving me till June 10th to complete.

Trois is on hold because I have Justice and I need to edit my Pirate story for a publisher. I also would like to finish A Second Chance for my other pub.

Right after, I will continue to do Taming as well as start reediting Masquerade and Sweetest Taboo.

A lot on the docket, but hopefully, the work will all pay off as I try to get 20 stories/books published this year.

Toodles for now!

Good morning folks! Today's LJ update on the Triad is talking about distractions!

Whew. Why would I pick that photograph? Well besides it being absolutely gorgeous and different, it is one of the things that distracts me from my daily writing. Not just that  photo in particular, but all outside forces.

What am I saying? Facebook, Twitter, email, any electronic device. How about those important distractions like family; two kids hubby!

Then comes the other ones, people working on your house, your stresses. These all play a big part in my life right now and yes, they take away from what I love most: to write.

How do I deal? Well, when I have serious writing to do, I looked at the advice from a fellow writer, who says she turns off her wireless. That way, if she does get the urge to Tweet or FB, she wont be able to. Did that! ;)

Family? I'm lucky my mom takes the kids on some weekends, this happened to be one of them so I did get some extra writing done. Also, I write at night when the whole house is asleep, so hubby and the kids are gone to bed.

The house? Write when they are gone, or if I have blog posts to do, which I have plenty, get those done and leave serious writing till later.

Stress? Unfortunately, that really doesnt go anywhere but, I do try to relax my mind and put on music or clear my head b4 I sit down to write. Sometimes that stress comes out in the story and if it does, there is times it fits and other times it doesn't.

This weekend I think I wrote about 5k on African Sun and Trois combined and I know I put some tension in there. It might have even fit the plot! EUREKA!

So, thats how I deal. Has it been successful? Yep, to a point. There are times its failed, but for the most part, I fight distractions with the right plans.

That social networking is addictive btw!

*****

Ohh! WOOHOO! Guess what? I did actually finish a story. Did I say that last week? I dont think so.

My Lieutenant is in the capable hands of a dear author and friend. She's looking it over to see if I had a clue what I was talking about. lol so, one less WIP. Of course, it goes into edits but that's always separate.

Got alot down on AS and Trois, FINALLY! Me and Dina, (the heroine in the MMF) settled how she would be a more integral part of the story so I hope to get Trois moving in the right direction. No date of completion was set for either AS or Trois. Just letting them ride their course until they say they are done. AS is over 13K and Trois is now at about 18K. I'm thinking AS will be about 50K.

News: Binding Justice was accepted by my editor so I'm pretty stoked. He didn't even tell me either. He put a note on my Facebook. Clever! 0.o

I'm thinking there may be a sequel for Binding... hmmm...much later!

Vertigo is almost complete! I was supposed to have it done by yesterday but alas, no... I'm hoping to get it done by Friday or sooner. The editor likes this one so I need to get it done.

Mi Familia is rolling along and my Second Chance story, I'm giving it a break so I can do some research.

So that makes 5 now? IDK, I lose count.

Oh and lastly, I was really excited to get some FF done! WOOT!

Yesterday was ff day to update the site. Worked on 2 stories I adore, and Im hoping to get one close to completion. The other no end in sight Thats my recreational writing btw. lol

All in all a productive week I had. This week more challenges as I try to finish Vertigo and hopefully make a significant dent in AS and Trois.

I've also joined a bunch of authors doing a faux NaNowrimo. 50k in 30 days. Piece of cake for me. If you'd like to see, it just started yesterday...

Cheers folks and have a good week!

Hello!

I always have a pic to go along with my thoughts and since I really could not find one, I settled on my man, David Taylor.

Okay, enough about him, what is my latest revelation on this long journey to being good writer?

Well, its a multitude of things that I do to drive my fave editor crazy but the biggest things is writing a fiction story like a play. :P

What does that mean? Well, telling the reader every little thing that happens and not focusing on the emotions and of the characters. Do you really need to know the actual steps of Sire and him hobbling grabbing his cane? No, you can assume that because hes crippled and esp if Ive mentioned it once, that yes, he needs a walking stick.

(Sire is from Binding Justice)

When did I discover this?

Getting my edits back from my fave editor and him telling me, I don't need as much backstory as I need you conveying your characters emotions and the actual action in the story. VERY TRUE

Show me, dont tell me! His hands reaching for Sire, his cock stiffening the moment Sire returned the kiss. ETC.

Why the hell am I guilty of this? Not sure. I think I had this grasped when I wrote in first person and making the transition to third had been more difficult because I, as the author, want the reader to be informed. However, all the useless shit is not needed. Some back story is good but not every single stinking detail.

Thats the main one but another is, not keeping an accurate number on words in chapters. They should be somewhat uniform. He says 3k on each and with the help of another fellow author, I discovered my transitions between chapters aren't all that smooth. She said, to keep the continuous flow going and not have such a hard beginning to the next chapter. She also said the same as my editor said, too much telling instead of showing.

So kids, what have I learned? All the above of course and I know I can only get better. Its the reason why I believe taking a fiction writing class would be beneficial. I'm also grabbing a book today by my ed's good friend and fellow author, M Christian, How to Write Erotica.

You may ask, why am I doing this? Well, because I want my books to be better and for my editors to have less work. This will not only help me in the long run but when I do venture to self-pub which I will do in the next 2 years., I want to write the best books I can.

The plan is to enhance my style and not lose it. Being published is a big deal but as writers, in order to sell books we must strive to get better.

I also plan to read a lot more which Ive done. I finished one fellow authors bk this weekend and started another that I should be done with today. I don't plan to write till late tonight or early morn, tomorrow because I have some FF biz to take care of!

;) Alright, thats it.. thanks for listening!

Greetings readers...

Can I just say how much I love my muses?

As you know, my alter egos and me form the Triad...

Lately I have been finishing stories, not really working on anything new for the exception of Sweetest Taboo and Binding Justice. I have not submitted but once this year until yesterday when I did one for a publisher for Masquerade and earlier this morning for Binding Justice.

What does this show?

That I haven't done any new anthology submissions.

Well, that will change!

For the next couple of months, (March and April) I have about 5-7 I would like to do. Now, that doesn't mean they are a guarantee but, its in my head to do something for each one.

For the next one due March 15th, I am to do to eight page stories, both m/m. One of the mobster genre another about tall Dark Men.

Well, I had absolutely no ideas for that first one until I read the call again then brainstormed a little. Rawiya and Michael came up empty but for whatever reason when I started thinking mobster, ruthless, foulmouthed...

There came Miss Thang to the rescue...

Mind you, she's the rock and roller but any dialogue that will allow her to be the sass crass slut that she is, she likes. So she came up with an idea that she will have me working on along with her other story, My Lieutenant.

I love her...she does more than just stories about musicians. She is my original pseudonym after all, so really I cannot say I'm surprised.

I'm lucky to have my two alter egos to help me along as I continue to make a name for myself. They have been very helpful and heres hoping they will not fail me anytime soon.

I really don't think they will. We have a book full of ideas to keep us busy.

UPDATES
  • As I stated, Binding Justice is done. Submitted to my editor yesterday. We shall see if he likes it enough to include it in his bondage antho.
  • Masquerade was given to a different editor yesterday so I'll keep you posted there.
  • Not sure if I revealed that Sweetest Taboo was turned down on its first run but I have another one that I am thinking of giving it to.
  • Starting this week, I will be doing part two of Vertigo as well as more on Lose Myself. He would like at least 5K more on that story before considering to release a full version.
  • I will be doing edits on African Sun starting today as well as starting part three on Tuesday. My target date for finishing part three is 4/30/11, I hope to get 1 and 2 out before late summer, early fall
  • My Lieutenant is almost done. I'll be working on that along with the new mob story as well as the Tall dark man story all at once.
  • I began my free read, Mi Familia on my Blog, crossposting here in my slash group as well as on Literotica.com and GayDemon.com
I think that is plenty to do right? *laughs*

Of course there are more stories on the brain but my biggest focus is getting them complete for my fave publisher.

I'll keep you abreast of anymore developments if you're paying attention.

That's all for now...

Wow,

I am so entirely excited about whats to come.

I got an email from my editor over the weekend. He likes what I sent him, Lose, Vertigo Part One, and Binding Justice.
In conversation, we talked about adding to the first ones and he wants to see the rest of Justice which is almost done.

I'm really thrilled that more of my work will be coming out.

If edits go well, AS could be out by April or May at the latest on Amazon and my editors pub co.

Woohoo!

Too happy about this... :)

I thank all my friends for all the cheers. You have more to do now...

;)

You know who you are!

Thx and love to all of you

Well, at around midnight, Michael and I started penning, Binding Justice, our M/M erotica bondage romance that we would like to submit to our favorite publisher by 2/15.

Seemingly my main character, Sergeant Sire Jacobs, had a lot to say since I got 1200 words down right off the bat. I am completely thrilled.

I intend for it to be a little humorous as well as hot and sexy, that is what I want anyway. I know that Sire and his cohort on the story may have even more ideas to throw in my head. My characters always surprise me with curveballs.

As far as my other stories, Longing for A Normal State of Vertigo, Masquerade, and Only When I Lose Myself, I am looking to finish those as well along with a coupe of fanfictions that I am working on. I actually have 4 ff's that are in progress and for my readers community, i try keeping all updated at least once a month. One of them I do, weekly since it is an M/M crossover paranormal.

How the hell do I keep all my characters straight? They know who they are and they want their stories written. The guys from the above stories have already set in their heads what they want next. As a matter of fact, what;s even scarier is the ones from Masquerade would like me to go on and continue part two along with the first segment to make it a more complete book. I may take them up on that and if it does happen, Masquerade may not get done until April. ;P

So, that leaves me to concentrate on the Binding, Vertigo, and Lose which I could totally deal with. They are all going to the same publisher so that also makes it easier.

Oh and the novel, African Sun? Part 1& 2 are written, part 3 will not get started for another 2 weeks. I talked with my editor and he says if I can get the manuscript as clean as possible we can present to the senior editor/company owner before summer... YAY! That will be awesome...

Keep watching this space to find out more about my musings... ;P
