Happy Monday and welcome to the Weekly Update!

WOOHOO! I'm so excited to say that Vertigo is finished. YESS!

Now truly, in the life of a writer even when you type the words, the end, it doesn't mean it's necessarily over. it only means the toughest part, getting all your thoughts on paper is done. The next part is the hardest, editing, revising, to make it sound coherent.

So what about when that ending you just typed was unexpected?

Vertigo's author is my gay man, Michael Mandrake.

When he and I sat at the table, writing the last of Vertigo on Sunday, there was an internal discussion as to how it would end.

Should it be happy ending where all the characters get what they want and live HEA (happy ever after) or should it be a bittersweet one?

Well, because I listen extensively to my writer within, Michael, and the characters, they chose the bittersweet ending which I won't go into because I want you read it when it comes out! ;P

However, I will tell you that it shocked me, how it came out and how effortless it was for me to write this controversial ending. COMPLETELY FLOORED ME. I was so shocked, I tweeted and Facebooked about it...

My muses are demons, what the hell, blah blah

*laughs*

As you know, my Vertigo tale is a paranormal so, anything can happen there. And my character, David, (my model David Taylor above) really surprised me with what he wanted to occur.

So, what have I learned? As a fellow author who I respect in the genre told me, write whats in your heart. Don't change it because you might think it's unpopular with the critics. Follow your inspiration and muses, which I've always done and will continued to do.

I've come up with some really interesting things and I'm sure as I get better as a writer, I'll have more surprising stories and endings to tell!

*****

So, in the post, VERTIGO DONE! WOOT!

I'm really happy to at least have the general ideas on paper. Now, as I said, comes the hard part. Revising, editing...etc. My editor is still working on Binding Justice so he can get it out for a May 29th release. After that, it will most likely be Imperfect Lover he'll work on and then Vertigo. He also has a gay western antho he'd like me to be in, so that might come before the others.

As it stands, these are now my WIP's

Trois in Treble (MMF) Midway point
Mi Familia (Ongoing gay menage) No end in sight
Lessons in Ink (gay romance) getting back to that!
African Sun Part 3 No end in sight
A Second Chance - Still going on this one. I've put it down a while so I could work finish Vertigo. Now that its complete, I will pick it up again.

I have a few subs I'd like to do. A hetero involving a curvy woman, my pirate story which is pretty much done, just some revising, and the gay western antho due by June 1st. That last one I will start on Friday or Saturday. I'd like to go on and get these shorts done this week.

This week, I will also be revising The Masquerade which I've been posting on Free Fic Friday on LJ. I found a potential publisher for it and will be doing some revising and major editing and I hope to get it to the publisher by months end.

Now, I am shooting to get Lessons done and the 2 short subs before starting the gay western!

Also, my fanfiction muse is hungry! Been writing shorts and it would like me to do another big story. So, the goal is to finish 2 of the ones Ive been working on and start a new chapter one next month when the calendar for subs is light and I have Masquerade and the gay western done.

I have no dates to finish Trois and AS! They will just continue until the muses have been satisfied.

Ta for now!

Yep, this explains it. Up past my knees in WIP's, Edits, promos and...whew...

As some of you know, I have teamed up with a group of fellow authors to do a all gay male blog called, Its Raining Men.

We just opened last Friday and its doing really well. Which is great for all of us since it will not only help our careers, but also our peers. It will also be a source of great entertainment for all of our viewers. :)

Here is the drawback: It's another thing that cuts into my writing time. :P

I have edits and thank goodness my editor is not hot to have mine at the moment. He did email me and said he'd be looking over the Bondage Antho stories which meant Binding Justice would be under a microscope. *shudder*

I also have Perfect Man (Lose Myself) AS, and Vertigo for him.

What I'm hoping is I'll have 3 of these 6 done by the end of the month. If I continue at the pace I'm going, I wont have them complete.
Thank goodness there are only 3 calls this month. 2 for my main publisher. WHEW...

So yes, I am soaked because Its Raining MEN!! LOL <3 BWAHHAA! Pun intended. Now, do I really want an umbrella?
I think I'll take my chances...

WIPS

Vertigo
AS
Lieutenant
Lessons
Mi Familia
Trois in Tune

My goal is to get Vertigo, Lieutenant, and Lessons done. Trois, Im not so sure. Since I nixed the deadline, the characters are more at ease to allow the story to go at a slower pace.

Vertigo has taken a different turn. The muse likes the fright angle while Lieutenant wants to finish to make it to the Masquerade crew. (Yep, thats where its going)

Lessons is going very well. I've written 3K on this story so far and I'm looking to have between 7-10

SUBS...

Main publisher. 2 Revisions - Sweetest Taboo to a pub for a contest...

Thats all for now. Make sure you visit Its Raining Men

Back with another update!

When you think 5 for 7 its a pretty good ratio, right? Unless its 5 out of 7 Lottery numbers...nope, not unless they have prizes for that.

Well, I did 5-7 submissions this month and it feels great to say I met those 5. 1 accepted, 1 rejected, still waiting on 3 more for the month of March. Not bad.

I could feel myself beginning to feel like January when I began to question my muses. Of course they are fighting back.

On the Trois story, I'm feeling I wrote too much of my gay couple who has yet to invite their female into the relationship. She just began speaking to me so what can I do. 13K in and she's finally talking.

So, I wont be making that deadline but I'm set to send my fave editor the first 3 chapters and the dreaded synopsis this week.

His words? I'd rather have an MFM but okay. lol

I'm pretty excited to have the next two months with very little deadlines.

5 for April - One is almost done, 3 are less than 8K Max. The big one I'm still deciding if I want to do it.

1 for May which I have basically written, just needs changes.

I'm trying to avoid writer burnout before more busy months come when I'll need my fingers to cooperate with my muses.

So, I made those five and I'm happy.

****

As I stated 5 for April and 3 of them are pretty much written.

I started AS III The Beauty Within which made my good friends happy...you know who you are.

Why you ask? Well, the AS Muse wanted to make sure I at least STARTED it before the April. They had thoughts and since i just killed a character and bringing in another, I had more to write.

So as it stands I have 5

African Sun

Trois MMF

Vertigo

Lessons

Lieutenant

I hope to get 3 done by months end. :)

Plus fanfic muse is calling. I'll be writing a couple at friends requests.

Till next time...

Rested...

That is what my muses feel now after we took the last couple of days to work on African Sun Edits.

Now, my lovely editor would like me to do the following:

Make the story, Only When I Lose Myself from the My Sexy Valentine anthology longer by about 5k and make Longing for a Normal State of Vertigo about 30K! WOW! I think that second one can be done but we shall see.

I don't like to draw out a story just for the sake if doing it so we shall see what my lovely characters give me. I am positive that my paranormal book, Vertigo can be stretched because the men had more story.

This on top of:

My Lieutenant
1 Sub by March 10th
2 Subs due by March 15th
1 March 30th
4 by April 1st (One of which has to be 15k-20K) EEEKkk

And I'm starting a new project with fellow M/M authors along with my blogs, my LJ here, and erm, my fanfiction site which must get  updated very soon. Not to mention, my LJ communities here which I love.

Wow, so much to do. Its only March! Shhhiitttt...LOL We shall see what comes out, in the mean time, stay tuned for all the updates!

Greetings readers...

Can I just say how much I love my muses?

As you know, my alter egos and me form the Triad...

Lately I have been finishing stories, not really working on anything new for the exception of Sweetest Taboo and Binding Justice. I have not submitted but once this year until yesterday when I did one for a publisher for Masquerade and earlier this morning for Binding Justice.

What does this show?

That I haven't done any new anthology submissions.

Well, that will change!

For the next couple of months, (March and April) I have about 5-7 I would like to do. Now, that doesn't mean they are a guarantee but, its in my head to do something for each one.

For the next one due March 15th, I am to do to eight page stories, both m/m. One of the mobster genre another about tall Dark Men.

Well, I had absolutely no ideas for that first one until I read the call again then brainstormed a little. Rawiya and Michael came up empty but for whatever reason when I started thinking mobster, ruthless, foulmouthed...

There came Miss Thang to the rescue...

Mind you, she's the rock and roller but any dialogue that will allow her to be the sass crass slut that she is, she likes. So she came up with an idea that she will have me working on along with her other story, My Lieutenant.

I love her...she does more than just stories about musicians. She is my original pseudonym after all, so really I cannot say I'm surprised.

I'm lucky to have my two alter egos to help me along as I continue to make a name for myself. They have been very helpful and heres hoping they will not fail me anytime soon.

I really don't think they will. We have a book full of ideas to keep us busy.

UPDATES
  • As I stated, Binding Justice is done. Submitted to my editor yesterday. We shall see if he likes it enough to include it in his bondage antho.
  • Masquerade was given to a different editor yesterday so I'll keep you posted there.
  • Not sure if I revealed that Sweetest Taboo was turned down on its first run but I have another one that I am thinking of giving it to.
  • Starting this week, I will be doing part two of Vertigo as well as more on Lose Myself. He would like at least 5K more on that story before considering to release a full version.
  • I will be doing edits on African Sun starting today as well as starting part three on Tuesday. My target date for finishing part three is 4/30/11, I hope to get 1 and 2 out before late summer, early fall
  • My Lieutenant is almost done. I'll be working on that along with the new mob story as well as the Tall dark man story all at once.
  • I began my free read, Mi Familia on my Blog, crossposting here in my slash group as well as on Literotica.com and GayDemon.com
I think that is plenty to do right? *laughs*

Of course there are more stories on the brain but my biggest focus is getting them complete for my fave publisher.

I'll keep you abreast of anymore developments if you're paying attention.

That's all for now...

Wow,

I am so entirely excited about whats to come.

I got an email from my editor over the weekend. He likes what I sent him, Lose, Vertigo Part One, and Binding Justice.
In conversation, we talked about adding to the first ones and he wants to see the rest of Justice which is almost done.

I'm really thrilled that more of my work will be coming out.

If edits go well, AS could be out by April or May at the latest on Amazon and my editors pub co.

Woohoo!

Too happy about this... :)

I thank all my friends for all the cheers. You have more to do now...

;)

You know who you are!

Thx and love to all of you

Well, at around midnight, Michael and I started penning, Binding Justice, our M/M erotica bondage romance that we would like to submit to our favorite publisher by 2/15.

Seemingly my main character, Sergeant Sire Jacobs, had a lot to say since I got 1200 words down right off the bat. I am completely thrilled.

I intend for it to be a little humorous as well as hot and sexy, that is what I want anyway. I know that Sire and his cohort on the story may have even more ideas to throw in my head. My characters always surprise me with curveballs.

As far as my other stories, Longing for A Normal State of Vertigo, Masquerade, and Only When I Lose Myself, I am looking to finish those as well along with a coupe of fanfictions that I am working on. I actually have 4 ff's that are in progress and for my readers community, i try keeping all updated at least once a month. One of them I do, weekly since it is an M/M crossover paranormal.

How the hell do I keep all my characters straight? They know who they are and they want their stories written. The guys from the above stories have already set in their heads what they want next. As a matter of fact, what;s even scarier is the ones from Masquerade would like me to go on and continue part two along with the first segment to make it a more complete book. I may take them up on that and if it does happen, Masquerade may not get done until April. ;P

So, that leaves me to concentrate on the Binding, Vertigo, and Lose which I could totally deal with. They are all going to the same publisher so that also makes it easier.

Oh and the novel, African Sun? Part 1& 2 are written, part 3 will not get started for another 2 weeks. I talked with my editor and he says if I can get the manuscript as clean as possible we can present to the senior editor/company owner before summer... YAY! That will be awesome...

Keep watching this space to find out more about my musings... ;P
